Review: REN Evercalm Cleansing Milk for Sensitive / Rosacea skin

REN-evercalm-gentle-cleansing-milk-ohhhoney-2017-reviews-rosacea-skin-sensitive.png

Although Papulex has been working wonders for me for the past two years, I felt like trying something new to help with the redness I still experience with my Rosacea.

I’ve recently picked up a new cleanser, which took me a lot of courage cause I almost always break out with anything new that I use due to my sensitive rosacea skin type.

This cleanser is from REN and it’s one of their best sellers… the REN Evercalm Gentle Cleansing Milk.

REN terms themselves as clean skincare, and their products excludes bad skin ingredients like parabens, sulphates, additives and more.

Review: Indeed Lab’s Hydraluron for Sensitive / Rosacea Skin

Indeed Labs Hydraluron Review Sensitive Skin Rosacea 2017 hyaluronic acid serum ohhhoney.jpg

I’m back with another review for another highly raved serum – Indeed Lab’s Hydraluron. I read about it from Caroline Hiron’s blog, and was immediately tempted to purchase one to help my rather sensitive dehydrated skin type that is also prone to breakouts.

Indeed Lab’s claims that Hydraluron boosts moisture levels in one’s skin daily. It contains the purest form of hyaluronic acid – an incredibly hydrating ingredient that holds up to 1,000 times its weight in water – as well as red marine algae – which mildly stimulates blood circulation – to provide maximum delivery of moisture beneath the skin’s surface.

Pie lovers, rejoice! Pie Face now in Singapore

??????????????????????

Are you a fan of pies? Australia’s popular chain, Pie Face, has arrived in Singapore! Their first outlet is now open at 313 Somerset, with their 14,000 sq ft flagship cafe set to open soon in Bugis Village.

Aren’t these smiley cutie-pies adorable? Thanks to Celine for the invite, I got to try out these savoury and dessert pies on their opening night :)

??????????????????????

The four savoury flavours available are the Chunky Steak Pie ($5.80), Chicken & Mushroom Pie ($4.90), Thai Curry Chicken Pie ($4.90) and Taandori Vegetable Pie ($4.90).

The pie pastry is light and crisp. I feel that it could have been a little more buttery, but that’s just my preference.  Their signature chunky steak pie definitely tops my chart but I’m also fond of the the Thai Curry Chicken (partly cause I love anything thai food related, lol)

I’m not a fan of dessert pies, but do check out the Mini Lemon Pie ($3.30) which is pretty refreshing with a cuppa’ latte.
??????????????????????

They also serve a selection of beverages and coffee. The Mocha I had was creamy, not too sweet and comparable to the usual cafe standards.
??????????????????????

??????????????????????

Pies and coffee definitely make for a good after-shopping break and I’d recommend you drop by to give those piping hot pies a try!

Alive Museum opens in Singapore

What’s the newest craze in town?

Alive Museum is here from South Korea! Ditch the regular movie date, and head down to visit Alive Museum with your SO, friends or family for a unique experience.

You know how traditional museums have the ‘see but no touch’ rule? Not this one. Not only can you touch and feel the exhibits, you can also hop into the frame and become a part of the art masterpieces that play on optical illusions. Trick Art was very popular during the Baroque era in the 16th century. Using 3D painting techniques, these art pieces trick the eyes and stimulate your mind into seeing both illusion and reality at the same time.

One tip.. Wear shorts when visiting cause you need to squat or lie down for some shots!

Just gonna share some of the 3D paintings we thought were interesting. There’s quite a lot of visual art exhibits on display!

There’s this station which I swear makes anyone look like a monster. If you wanted to see how you look like with failed plastic surgery, please just go to this station.

This is like social media suicide but I will share it anyway~ I swear I DON’T LOOK LIKE THAT AT ALL on normal days. The bf said I look like a Japanese boy with a wig. So mean. Tsk tsk.

[Review] Amore Silver

[Sponsored post]

Received my Amore Silver loots a week ago – can’t wait to share more about this lovely online accessories store!

Amore_Silver_Singapore_jewelry_online_store_review_blog_earrings_necklaces_amoresilver

Because of my undying love for accessories, I used to have my own blog-shop selling costume jewelry (yes, those you find in flea markets at Scape) but I never really wore them though I sold them…

WHY?!

Cause…
1) they’re all coated with paint / finishing which fades after a few wears
2) I don’t want my fingers or neck to rot (okay, I’m being dramatic here)

The cost price is less than a dollar each (though you buy them for 5 to 10 times the price) so you really can’t expect much for the quality. Plus I have sensitive skin, so I try to stick with good quality jewelry (at least 925 silver) where possible.

Really excited to know that Amore Silver’s pieces are from Italy and made with 925 silver. It will not rust under good care.

I specially tested them out by wearing the necklace everyday, and even bathed with it on. No discoloration / rust AT ALL.

Ready?

Here’s what I chose from their collection:

N19 – The Eiffel Necklace
This has to be my favorite necklace at the moment. So versatile and chic, I wore it to many places – work, t-shirt & jeans day and even a night out to the bar! It’s like carrying a piece of Paris with me, wherever I go.

N28 – The Butterfly Necklace
A very feminine piece for the girly girl. I really love the intricate details on this one. Something I would wear out for a dinner date or a special event :)

Next up, earrings! Stud earrings are one of my favorites cause they are fuss free and ridiculously easy to match with any outfit.

E11 – Simple twirl
I chose this more for formal events cause it’s simple and elegant. It feels really comfortable to wear for the entire day without irritating my ears.

E13 – The rose
Major love for this design ~ It can work both ways — girly with a dress or rocker chick with a leather jacket!

If you’re looking for a gift, be it for your gal palgirlfriend or mother, Amore Silver is definitely a good choice with 925 silver pieces under $50. The items came packaged in a nice gift box so it makes a very presentable gift for the price you pay.

Thank you, Amore Silver (special shout-out to Oliver), for sending these lovely pieces over!

APretti Nailz : French with a twist

Recently, my mood has been really awesome cause I’m in love…… with my nails!

SNEAK PEAK: I’ve got a not-so-classic gelish French manicure!!!!

I really have to share the awesome service and work by APretti Nailz cause they are so so good. Read on or scroll down!

APretti Nailz

I was really impressed when I got to the shop cause there was no strong nail polish smell (which I hate by the way). PLUS… the shop decorations are really nice :) I think they are using the romantic European style? Way prettier than the nail shops in FEP.

Met with Muzi, one of the talented founder of APretti Nailz and got to know that she will be doing my nails personally. She started me off by passing me some magazines to choose my nail design. All I can say is… I was SPOILT FOR CHOICE.

Like oh my god, all these intricate designs on such a small piece of canvas (aka our nails).. how did they do it?! PURE TALENT. (pictures below)

I couldn’t decide so while I was flipping, she got me started with the filing and cleaning first. It took quite some time cause she was really detailed. (Plus I had so much gross cuticles that needed to be removed….)

Did you know it’s actually good/healthy for your nails to be trimmed, cleaned, scrubbed and buffed? And to think I used to believe being natural (not doing anything to them) was best.

I really LOVE how this LED light dries up my nails instantly, just like magic! It was a little warm though but nothing unbearable :)
?????????????????????????????????????

I wanted something simple and elegant so Muzi suggested the French manicure for me. But the classic French is kinda boring right? I told her to maybe improvise it a little and here’s what she came up with :)

GLITTER AND HEARTS!

Two of my favourite things in this world. Looks simple but definitely takes skills to achieve such perfect lines.

Just look at the amount of certs on the wall… I was quite assured that my nails are being handled by someone who’s been professionally trained.

Can I just tell you how pretty these armchairs are in real life?

And TADA! Here’s a photo with the pretty Ms Muzi who worked on my nails :)
(Please ignore the gross blue-blacks on my knees though, got them from dance prac LOL)

It’s been 2 to 3 weeks after I have done my gelish at APretti Nailz, and I can honestly say there are no chip or scratches thus far. It still looks absolutely perfect and I don’t even have to do anything special to maintain them. Picture below taken on my trip in Korea.

I strongly recommend checking out APretti Nailz if you want a clean, comfortable environment, affordable pricing and great service. In fact, it’s so convenient cause it’s right outside Chinatown MRT (just 1 min walk away).

Special thanks to Muzi for making my experience a great one, and for sharing some awesome nail beautifying tips with me!

Naoki Yoshihara by Ash (Liang Court)

[Sponsored review]

Hi guys! こんにちは! Chinese New Year is nearly here and I am so thankful that I got my hair fixed at Naoki Yoshihara by Ash, an authentic Japanese hair salon in Singapore :)

Naoki Yoshihara by Ash

To be honest, I’ve never been to a Japanese salon before. Sure, I’ve tried some Japanese branded salons like Shunji Matsuo etc but the stylists and techniques doesn’t seem any different from Spore or international brand salons. I was super excited to finally have a Japanese stylist do my hair cause all the japanese models hair look so perfect!

If you didn’t know, I was born with curly hair.

REALLY CURLY HAIR.

Curlier than twister fries and some say Hermione Granger.

I do rebonding every year. The last time I rebonded was about one year ago, at a salon in Vivocity. It cost me $450 and my hair was severely damaged. One year on, my new hair grew out thus I have curly hair on top, straight on the bottom.

Please brace yourself. (This is my virgin hair with no straightening iron or product)

Naoki Yoshihara by Ash_Singapore_Japanese_Salon_Review_blog_rebonding_straightening_for_Damaged_hair (2)

Met my stylist Megu-san! She’s super petite and kawaii in real life! As Megu-san just got here and is not so proficient in English yet, the manager Kazutaka-san chats with me to find out my concerns and what I wanted to achieve out of today’s session.

I opted for rebonding since I have short hair now. Also maybe cause short curly short hair might make me look like an auntie. My other request is that I don’t want the rebonding to turn out flat, which is always the case when I rebond my hair. It sticks to the head and makes my face look extremely fat!

Naoki Yoshihara by Ash_Japanese_salon_Singapore_Review_blog_rebonding_straightening_for_damaged_hair

My worst problem is that I have sensitive skin and most salons, despite telling them that before doing my hair, THEY NEVER EVER LISTEN. They apply rebonding cream onto my face, comb my face, scratch my face, let the water splatter all over when shampooing, blow the really hot hairdryer in my face – I always end up leaving the salon looking like a monkey’s ass (red and itchy).

So I searched ‘sensitive skin’ & ‘itchy’ on google, and got the word ‘Binkan hada’ and ‘Kayui’, showed it to Megu-san and she immediately understood. She took the extra care to not let my hair touch my skin. For that, I’m super thankful ❤

Okay so we started off with a shampoo!

Some stylists shampoo my head so hard I want to ask them…
“You washing my hair or ripping my head off huh bro?!”

Naoki Yoshihara by Ash_Singapore_Review_Japanese_salon_blog_rebonding_straightening_for damaged hair

Megu-san used a soft fleece cloth to cover my face so water won’t splatter all over. It’s the first time I get wrapped up with a towel, an anti-wet drape, and a fleece blanket when going for a hair wash. She was extremely gentle in washing and exerted pressure in the right spots.

And while Megu-san was blowing dry my hair, I took a look around the salon and………. spotted cute looking stylists! (See, I always share good stuffs)

Naoki_yoshihara_by_Ash_Singapore_review_blog

What happened in the next 2 hours (other than a lot of selfies)

Shampoo -> Cut -> Rebonding cream for 20 mins -> Rinse  -> Leave-in Treatment -> Straighening iron -> After rebonding Cream for 3 minutes -> Treatment > Rinse -> Done! It’s seriously the fastest rebonding ever.

Processed with VSCOcam with f2 preset

The final look. Can’t do coloring right after rebonding :( My current hair color makes my hair looks awfully dry (when it’s actually not). I am going to dye it in a darker shade in 2 weeks time so it’s gonna look even! :)

Naoki Yoshihara by Ash_Singapore_Japanese_Salon_Review_blog_rebonding_straightening_for_Damaged_hair (3)

Since I am done with my hair, it’s time to take some photos around the salon. Let’s take a look at how the place looks like!

Naoki_yoshihara_by_Ash_Singapore_review_blog (2)

Naoki_yoshihara_by_Ash_Singapore_review_blog (3)

Products brought in from Japan. All products used during the entire treatment were Japanese products. You know how your hair smells like after rebonding? Their rebonding cream is not smelly at all compared to other salon’s!

IMG_9429

IMG_9427

And I spotted Tsukasa-san doing his own hair! かわいい!! KAWAII!

IMG_9422

ありがとう Megu-san, for making my hair more manageable!
Naoki Yoshihara by Ash_Singapore_Japanese_Salon_Review_blog_rebonding_straightening_for_Damaged_hair (5)

And if you always thought Japanese salons are going burn a hole in your pocket, you will be quite happy to know that prices are pretty reasonable. I was like :O when I found out that it’s cheaper than some no brand salon I visited last year.

Rebonding: $318 (includes hair-cut)
Treatment: $50 (add-on service)
Treatment alone will cost $80 with no other hair services.

If you’re keen for an authentic Japanese salon experience,

Za_LiquidRouge_cover_review

Hello lovelies! Very excited to share with you girls on the launch of a new exciting range at ZA – the Rich-Glam Liquid Rouge in 8 different shades!

So thoughtful of the PR peeps at White Space to hand us personalised invite cards :)

Everything was so pink I literally died of happiness!
ZA_cosmetics_review_Singapore_lipstick_5

ZA_cosmetics_review_Singapore_lipstick_4

There were some game booths around and one of them was a ‘tell your lip fortune’ booth. They applied the Za Rich-Glam Liquid Rouge on us, and we’re to gently press our puckers onto a piece of tissue. They will then analyse our lip shape and give us a card which tells our lip personality. Guess what I got?

I have round lips! I’m not sure bout some of the characteristics listed though…. LOL!

Here are the 8 gorgeous shades of pink!

I find PK 251 on the lighter side (suitable for younger girls) and RS481 good if you’re into kpop style. My absolute favourite has to be shade RD391!

Thoughts

  • Applicator is flexible and soft, making it easy to apply the rouge on
  • Color is vibrant and true to tone
  • Doesn’t feel too heavy on lips – no heavy, greasy feeling
  • Pretty and portable packaging
