My secret trail

After a busy day at work/school, most people can’t wait to get home for some well-deserved rest.

I live just 5 minutes away from the train station. On some days however, it takes me as long as 20 minutes to get home. (No, I wasn’t crawling…)

Instead of going by the direct route (where all I see are concrete floors & walls), I like to walk through my ‘secret trail’ on the way home, just so I can listen to the birds, have a whiff of freshly cut grass and reconnect with nature.

Here’s how my journey looks like on my way home. (Taken using my phone, using the Pudding camera app, which is awesome by the way)Image

At first glance, this may look like an ordinary pavement but is it really? Look closer. Do you see life growing through the cracks? Image

Knowing trees, I understand the meaning of patience. Knowing grass, I can appreciate persistence.
Hal Borland

Here’s one last quote to sum up today’s post:
I go to nature to be soothed and healed, and to have my senses put in order.
– John Burroughs

So go on, search for your own secret trail. Take some time every week to reconnect with nature and regain some sanity.

Will you take some time to smell the flowers on your way home?
